A new Blackberry but not the one you'd buy due to price

$549(P27,000), that's what Blackberry is asking for their new device, The Blackberry KeyOne. That's how Blackberry Priv was priced the first time it arrived here in the Philippines. I was waiting for this new device from Blackberry(This device was created by TCL by the way) and thinking of changing my much more powerful Samsung Galaxy S6 for this just because it has a QWERTY keyboard. But sadly, after knowing the price my Blackberry dream was shattered because it's just too darn expensive.

If your familiar with the Blackberry Priv, then Keyone has took some of its key features like the QWERTY keyboard, The trackpad built in on the keyboard, Customize able keyboard shortcuts, and the company's own developed Android skin, which they say the most secured version of Android.

Key specs from GSMArena:

  • 149 x 72.4 x 9.4mm, with an anodized aluminum frame and soft-touch fabric on the back
  • 4.5-inch, 1620x1080 pixel, IPS LCD touchscreen display; 434 ppi; Gorilla Glass 4 protection
  • Capacitive touch 4-row BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard; Fingerprint reader in the space button and 52 key shortcut support
  • Stereo speakers; 3.5mm audio jack
  • Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 (Octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53); Adreno 506; 3GB RAM
  • 32GB on-board storage; microSD card slot
  • 12 MP, f/2.0, 1.55 um, phase detection autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash; 4K@30fps video recording
  • 8MP, 1.125 um, 84 degree wide selfie camera
  • Android 7.1.1 Nougat with DTEK and BlackBerry software suite
  • 3,505 mAh battery; Quick Charge 3.0
  • Cat. 9 LTE support; Dual-band 802.11 a/g/b/n/ac; Bluetooth 4.2; GPS; NFC; FM Radio; USB Type-C with OTG

TCL just so you know, is a Chinese company offering cheap techs like TV and Mobile devices. This device wan't even created by Blackberry itself. Why are they charging so much for this device?

You see, the only addition for me that's special for this device is the built and the QWERTY keyboard. Other than that, the internals and software has no "WOW" factor to justify its price.

I'll end this post with the current price of an Unlocked Blackberry Priv on Amazon, $339.
