Best phone for gaming: Branded X Budget Edition
I was asked by a random folk yesterday about the best phone for mobile gaming. Yep, I have been gaming on every platform since the first Iphone and although there are tons of mobile phones right now which you can buy for a really cheap price, I'd still would like to recommend branded android phones for gaming though a bit pricey but the quality and after sales are top notch.
Plus, if you are into upgrading the firmware, branded one's has tons of custom firmware out there so you can customize and overclock the CPU. Since this is a Branded X Budget Edition. You won't find flagship devices here and this is just my picks! So just relax :P
Anyway, lets get it on!
I suggests to get a minimum of 3GB of RAM for gaming, for sure it will be future proof and will play emulators smoothly, plus you have more room for other applications to run on the background.
Zenfone 3
Specs:
Screen: 5.2 inch Super IPS+
Resolution: 1080x1920 (424 PPI)
RAM: 3GB
CHIPSET: Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapgdragon 625
CPU: Octa-Core 2.0GHZ Cortex-453
GPU: Adreno 506
Internal: 32GB Memory card expandable
Price: P12,980 ($260)
Zenfone 3 came in with multiple flavors, and one of them is this 5.2 inch version which has a flagship like specs which is great for gaming. Just by looking at the specificiations, it will play most of the Android games just fine. Internal Storage is above average and has a slot for additional memory. Pixel density is pretty good too which will make games look beautiful and vibrant.
Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime
Specs:
Screen: 5.5 inch PLS TFT
Resolution: 1080x1920(401 PPI)
RAM: 3GB
CHIPSET: Exynos 7870 Octa
CPU: 1.6GHZ Cortex-A53
GPU: Mali T830 MP2
Internal: 16/32GB memory card expandable
Price: P12,000
Samsung is known for having tons of Smartphones each year and yes, it is really difficult to pick a Samsung device if its not the flagship one. There's the J series and A series. For this post, J series falls into much cheaper side. J7 prime fits perfectly for mobile gaming on a budget and has the power to play current generation games plus it uses EXYNOS 7870 chipset which is 30% less power consumption than its competitors. Plus, this is a Samsung brand. The quality, the Android Skin and firmware upgrades are not an issue here.
Xperia XA Ultra
Specs
Screen: 6,0 inch IPS LCD
Resolution: 1080x1920(367 PPI)
RAM: 3GB
CHIPSET: Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10
CPU: Octa-core (4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.0 GHz Cortex-A53)
GPU: Mali T830 MP2
Internal: 16/32GB memory card expandable
Price: P14,700
Sony XA ultra is a bit on a expensive side but this one is a great phone for gaming due to its large screen which is peg at 6 inches. What I like about the Sony Android skin is that it is not Bloatware heavy like other Android skins which has enough power for your needs. Battery is on the mediocre side though. But still this is a great device for gaming for the screen real estate.
Xiamoi Mi Max
Screen: 6.44 inches
Resolution: 1080x1920(342 PPI)
RAM: 3GB / 4GB for 128GB model
CHIPSET: Snapdragon 650
GPU: Adreno 510
Internal: 32/64/128GB memory card expandable
Price: P10,950
Xiaomi MI Max for me is the overall winner of the four. It has a Snapdragon 650, the flagship chipset of mid range phones. It has less power consumption and has great performance. Good build quality and Xiaomi is also keen on updating the firmware of their smartphones. Its the cheapest of the four so I highly recommend this one.
So this concludes the Best Phone for gaming Branded Edition. My last tip for you guys is to have your Money placed on the best and not settle for less. You may see phones out there at a cheaper price but good specs from a china brand. Most of those have cheap quality, difficulty on finding accessories and difficult after sales service. Plus add the difficulty on finding a custom firmware for your phone. Branded phones are the best way to go. Cheers!
Thanks to GSMArena for the pics and Spec. My best smartphone for the main pic.
